Company Description

Applications are invited for a part-time position as a Professional Teaching Fellow in the School of Optometry and Vision Science starting 1 February 2021.

Who are we?

The School of Optometry and Vision Science (SOVS) is part of the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences within the University of Auckland. We are the only Optometry school in Aotearoa and offer a Bachelor of Optometry qualification (accredited by the Optometry Council of Australia and New Zealand) that enables graduates to practice optometry in Aotearoa and Australia. SOVS operates a full scope optometry clinic, with a large and diverse patient base, on the University of Auckland Grafton campus. SOVS staff and students also participate in clinics at other sites throughout Auckland.

The Opportunity

In 2021 SOVS will begin a project - in partnership with the New Zealand Association of Optometrists (NZAO) - to develop resources to support the continuing professional development (CPD) of New Zealand optometrists.

The role will involve developing and maintaining teaching material to form the basis of a web-based CPD platform. This in turn will require the successful candidate to communicate with topic experts and to develop teaching/learning activities. There will also be a role in supporting educational content provided via the NZAO including organising the annual conference program and developing evidence-based learning cases.

We have an opening available for an experienced and highly motivated Professional Teaching Fellow to develop and run this initiative.
